What happens during a consultation?
Your consultation is a private design conversation with Jean-Ralph Thurin. We discuss your event, lifestyle, proportions, and how you want to feel, then explore silhouette, fabric, color, embellishment, and styling direction. Expert measurements are taken, and you leave with a clear design path forward.
What should I bring (or prepare) for my appointment?
Bring inspiration if you have it—images, fabrics, or moments you’re drawn to—as well as event details. If you’re unsure of your vision, that’s perfectly fine. The consultation is designed to uncover it.
Do you offer virtual consultations, or do I need to come in-studio?
Virtual consultations are available and often ideal for early planning or out-of-state clients. For a full consultation experience an in-studio appointment is recommended.
How far in advance should I book for my event date?
We recommend booking as early as possible. As a guide:
- Bridal: 6–12+ months
- Eveningwear & Executive Wardrobe: 8–16 weeks
Rush options may be available for an additional fee.
What is the typical timeline from consultation to final delivery?
Most garments move through three phases: consultation and design, construction with fittings, and final finishing. Timelines vary based on design complexity, fabric sourcing, and event date, and are confirmed before work begins.
What does a custom piece typically cost (and what affects the price)?
Each garment is priced individually. Price depends on fabric selection, construction complexity, and embellishments. Options are discussed during your consultation.
Starting price points by label:
JRT Bridal: $6000 and up
JRT Noire (Evening Wear): $1500 and up
JRT Luxe (Executive Wardrobe): $1250 and up
JRT Belle Ange (Flower Girl and Communion Dresses): $400 and up
How many fittings are included and what is a muslin fitting?
Multiple fittings are included at no additional costs to ensure precision and comfort. A muslin fitting uses a test garment to refine structure and proportion before final fabric is cut—allowing adjustments at the most important stage of the process.
Can you design for my body and comfort (support, movement, curves, posture)?
Absolutely. Garments are engineered for real bodies and real movement, with built-in support, balance, and ease. Comfort is never an afterthought—it’s designed in from the beginning.
What are your payment terms and what is your refund/cancellation policy?
Custom commissions require a 50% deposit at signing, with remaining payments scheduled at key milestones. Because each piece is made specifically for you, deposits and completed work are generally non-refundable. All terms are clearly outlined before work begins.
